WEDDING IN THE RAINY SEASON

Your wedding ..................... My diary (episode 2)
Featured Wedding Pictures: The Adepele's

She was sitting right across my desk, she seemed so confused and needed someone to help voice out exactly what was on her mind. Her fiancé won't say a word. Apparently she is the one caught up in the locker of choices. The initial date of the wedding was 7th of September, whereas, her birthday is 20th of July. She desires a "birthday wedding date" but she is confronted with the indecision of moving the date backwards to her birthday date or keeping her initial date to avoid the clause of the rainy season. As a planner, the advice I could offer was based on the challenges she had presented to me. The entire decision making between the bride and me brought me to another page in my diary.
What does the rain have to do with your wedding? A whole lot I guess! Is the rain no longer a blessing as perceived? If at all it is otherwise, are there ways to make good the weather? Minutes later she looked at her fiancé and asked “Baby......if you are to give me a gift on each of these dates(birthday and wedding anniversary) what will be your best gifts to me on each of these days?........

WEDDING IN THE RAINY SEASON
It is mid-year already; it's about that season when we all are conscious of the weather. It's rainy, wet and marshy!!! Many still wonder why little consideration counts when it comes to events? One question that keeps coming up is: why did you choose this season? Did you take out time to think it through? Do you envisage an open roof or an indoor wedding? Would you prefer the day wet or dry irrespective of an out door or indoor setting? Your answer might be YES! Or an outright NO!!!

P:S If you are considering having your wedding this August (location, west Africa) then my diary is definitely a must read.

God has so much blessed the African continent with a very conducive weather to meet both our social and environmental needs. Good fortune and luck is often associated or better still attached to rain as a whole. So it is very much understood why some couples prefer to have their wedding celebration in this very season. It all together is not a bad idea, as long as the couples involved make adequate provision to make sure everything goes on smoothly.
Have you ever pictured walking into your wedding reception venue, only to discover it lined up with umbrellas? With drops of rain all over your adorable wedding gown, wind blown mist wreck your lovely hairdo, with damp hair falling over your flawless makeup leaving it all smudged? Or your both hands struggling to hold firm the lines of your wedding dress from getting it wet and stained? I presume you won't like the sight of such an occurrences, trust me on this...........it is never a pleasant situation to be confronted with.
Many things have to be put into consideration when preparing for a rainy season wedding. After a date has been picked, below are advisable factors to be seriously considered for a hitch free rainy season wedding.

1.) VENUE SHOULD BE STRATEGICALLY LOCATED: Wedding most often doesn't end at the entrance of the church, mosque or registry. Many couples take out time to entertain invited guest at a reception where couples spend judicious time with their families and loved ones in general. And since our focus is wedding during rainy season, attention must be paid to where guest traffic is high and closer to the points of activity. It is the most reasonable thing to do. We don't want to unnecessarily inconvenient our guest.
a.) How close is the registry from the larger chunk of guest? Provision should be made to make the registry, church, mosque and of cause the reception venue closer to them.
b.) How close are the supply vendors to the chosen venue for the reception? To avoid setbacks of late delivery, due to bad road network and traffic caused because of rain. You might want to consider capable vendors with easier accessibility.

2.) TRANSPORTATION: mobility is inevitable, a key factor when planning for wedding in this season. It is important to know how families and friends get to the chosen venue. Especially in a typical African family where a large number of family members would have converged days ahead of the wedding at the couples parents houses.

3.) TENT OR PERMANENT STRUCTURES: It is advisable the chosen venue which must have been booked ahead must either be of a side covered tent or a block of event hall. An open space is a capital NO! In this season.

4.) Cakes: your wedding cake vendor must be aware of the fact that sugar paste cover (fondant) is not exactly always at its best under misty weather as it tends to get sticky and fall if unkempt or exposed to mist from the rain therefore plan must be made toward fixing the cake table closer to an air conditioner to keep the surface dry. That is why a properly ventilated and air conditioned hall must be put into consideration.

5.) Amenities: necessary and properly functioning amenities such as walkway cover (to keep guest dry into the event room), mini shelters (for proper clean ups), Accessible rest rooms and garbage disposal must be made available. Sturdy floor mat must also be available. Arrangement must be made with the venue provider to make this possible, the function of the sturdy floor mat is to keep the soles of the shoes dry and clean, also it will reduce the impact of dirt and marshy soil in the event room. More so periodic mopping is advised so as to prevent slippery floor.
Like a common saying of mine "there is never a best time for weddings but best weddings in planned time" As conscious as it may look, getting married in the rainy season could likewise be full of fun, like if fixed in any other season. All it takes is you making the best of every moment in the day.

................ Fiancé replied "on your birthday I will present you my heart and on our anniversary I will yet present you my heart"......... Meaning both days deserves the best of me and both days are good for our wedding.
Come rain come sun wedding days are always the best days in the diary of a woman.

Hope you are well informed and entertained by reading my page of love?
